Holy crap, I am the biggest slacker ever! hahaha! Life has been....well, busy...and i've neglected my blog.
Last time i blogged on here was 2013--yikes! And i was saying how i was getting "back on the wagon." So did i? I know inquiring minds want to know. So...here's the truth:
2013: At the top of the year, i had just had a double mastectomy (12/28/12). I had the tissue expanders removed in March of '13, and replaced with implants. At that point, I had already been working out (slowly) again (even with the tissue expanders). After the implants were put in, I waited about 2 weeks for the stitches to heal, then--with very supportive sports bras--started working out full-force again.
I was exceedingly annoyed because i couldn't do a lot of things that i could do before--mainly, pull-ups and push-ups. Anything that involved the chest wall hurt, and for those exercises, i was essentially starting at square 1. It totally sucked.
During 2013 I continued to drink my Shakeology (i'm an addict), worked out to my best ability, and gained...wait for it...4 pounds. Yep. A measly 4 lbs. :)
2014 and 2015 were pretty much the same. To be honest, i haven't physically challenged myself in a while. 2015 was extremely busy--we were in several shows at theatre, we moved (and all the fun stuff that comes with that), and we just NOW feel like we're really 'living' in our house and getting into the swing of things.
Right now, i'm doing Hammer and Chisel. I LOVE it. And, as usual, i'm working out when I can--meaning, I can't always follow the schedule the program sets. And that's okay--it's called LIFE, people. I work out a MINIMUM of 4 times a week. Wednesdays are difficult--I have meetings all day, I office at the theatre, and we get home at 10pm or later. Could I get up earlier than 630am and work out? Yep, I sure could, but it's my CHOICE not to. I hate working out in the morning. Hate it.
What I DO do, and have since I started Beachbody, is eat clean 85% of the time (if not 90), and drink my Shakeology EVERY DAY. My shakes are important to me. Full, CLEAN nutrition in a single glass. No preservatives, no artificial flavors, nothing you can't find in nature. It's the best thing I can do for my body. (And, as a side note, when i was going through cancer crap, my oncologist--who is NOT affiliated with Beachbody at all--said that Shakeology was the best nutritional drink she had ever seen.) << That made me happy, and I honestly feel like my health attributed to my awesome healing process (double mastectomy on 12/28/12, and back to working out by 4/13)! Holistic health, baby-- from the inside out!
So that's where I am. Much love to all of you. Make the choice to be healthy. Make the choice to take care of yourself. You have one life. I encourage you to wake up every day and CHOOSE to love yourself and take care of yourself. I'd be honored to help you--I can offer an encouraging word, I can recommend workout programs and eating plans, I can create a personalized workout plan (I'm a CPT, too!). Life is so precious. Create a mind and body that helps you live it!!

Life happens
...doesn't it? Life often gets in the way. In the way of things we want to do AND things we want to accomplish. You can look at it two ways: You can either give up or move on.
I say this because I'm looking at my calendar, and I haven't worked-out consistently since the first week of July. And...ready for it??
I'M OKAY WITH IT.
It's not like I've been lounging around, enjoying free-time, because man...that's the farthest thing from the truth. BUT...life happens. I've been away from my home nearly every night in July, not crawling into bed until around 11 or 12...and sometimes, later. During this crazy month, I've managed to lose 4lbs. How? I continued to eat clean.
A large portion of my time was spent at the theatre (my daughter was in a show, and I worked backstage), and the food that is catered in is NEVER the healthiest option. Pizza, sandwiches (on white bread), snacks--cheese, crackers, chips, pretzels, etc. But sometimes, you're starving and you have to eat. So, yes, I did indulge on a few occasions. BUT, I remained a clean eater 95% of the time. It makes SUCH a huge difference.
This week, I most likely won't work out, either. I have missed my family, and I want to have some downtime with them. I'm going to cook dinner every night, i'm going to sit down and enjoy some tv, and i'm going to RELAX! So next week, i'll be raring and ready to go!
So you see? Life happens. It doesn't mean you quit--it means you just give it a new start!

Genetics--That's not why you're overweight
As a personal trainer, I hear more often than not, "I just have bad genetics." Whenever I hear that, I'd like to respond with, "No, you just have a bad attitude." Let's set something straight here: Genetics don't make you fat. PERIOD.
Genetics give you the body type you have, your shape, and yes, even a predisposition to WHERE your fat will lie on your body. For instance, when i gain weight, the first place it goes is my butt/hips. That's genetics (and scientifically, it's part of being female). Some women gain it in their belly first; some women, in their boobs. HOWEVER, one more time: GENETICS DON'T MAKE YOU FAT.
So, what does make you fat? Here's a list:
The food you put in your mouth: The easiest thing to change, yet people have the hardest time with this. Eat clean. Eat clean. Eat clean. And one more time: EAT CLEAN. That means no: white flour, enriched flour, white sugar. Remove those few things from your diet, and you're pretty much golden. AND i promise you--you'll see a difference in your body within a week. No, not some kind of crazy, magical, weight-loss promise--A REAL PROMISE. Take care of your body by feeding it right, and your body will thank you by reducing bloat and functioning on a higher level. You'll feel better, sleep better, and look better!
Excuses: I have heard them all. They range from the usual, "I just don't have the time" to the lamest of all, "I'm just too tired to exercise or eat right." WHAT??? You're kidding me, right? With 2 kids, a full-time job, homeschooling (thank God we're out for summer), competitive gymnastics, theatre, piano, Girl Scouts, etc., I have an entire reel of excuses I could use. But I don't. You know why? BECAUSE THEY'RE EXCUSES. Quit making them. You shouldn't have a flippin' excuse for not treating yourself right. It's just as easy to walk around the block than it is to sit your butt on the couch and watch tv. And guess what? If you're tired before you walk around the block, you're going to be tired when you sit down to watch tv, too. Choose the better option. Don't sit there and tell yourself you're too tired to eat something healthy because 'McDonald's is faster,' or 'a frozen pizza is easier.' You're kidding, right? Believe me, I have days when I can't cook; honestly, most days. But we always have healthy options! Our favorite: Amy's Organic Burritos. Clean and tasty. Kashi Organic pizzas--yum. Oatmeal--i'm surprised we're not pooping straight oats. Snacks: mini carrots, fruit, greek yogurt...the list goes on. It's NOT HARD. Don't be a lazy eater.
Do you want it? Do you WANT to be healthier?? Than you've got to make changes. YOU'VE got to commit to change. Don't fall into unhealthy habits, and break the unhealthy habits you DO have. You can do it.
I did it. :)

Back in the game
Well, I am exactly 1 week out from my tissue expander to permanent implant exchange surgery, and I feel FABULOUS!! Those tissue expanders were like rocks in my chest, and inhibited me from doing way too much. Having squishy boobies is NOT overrated! :)
I started working out (carefully!) on Monday of this week and already I can see and feel a difference. I also cleaned up my eating. Over the course of Boobmageddon, I lost 7lbs of muscle (i had just completed Body Beast before I found out I had breastcancer). I only ended up gaining 2lbs or so--no big deal. However, I sure didn't keep it clean over the past 3 months. I wasn't horrible, but i wasn't eating my best. I'm one of those people where exercise fuels my desire to feed my body properly. I'm pretty sure a box of Valentine chocolates didn't account for proper fueling. :-/
One thing I didn't do, and i'm proud of myself for it, is that i never used cancer or my resulting surgeries as an excuse. I KNEW what I was doing. I KNEW i was eating crap. I KNEW i wasn't fueling properly. I accept it. To me, it's better to accept what you're doing, rather than make excuses for it (in all walks/situations in life). If you keep making excuses as to why you're eating crappy food (ex. It's my birthday, I 'deserve' it, I had a rough week, etc.) you're only kidding yourself. Be accountable to yourself--it will make your life that much easier. So, in that regard, I stayed accountable to myself over the course of my treatment. And now, I'm dealing with the consequences of the chocolate and white flour/sugar I was accountable for.
I'm back to drinking a gallon of water a day, back to eating super-clean (but still allowing myself a 'treat food' every once in a while), and back to daily workouts.
I credit my super-awesome recovery time to my health. That's more than anyone could ask for.
Not on a workout program? Start one. Start slow. JUST START. Your body will thank you for it!

Post Ultimate Reset
So, it's around 2 weeks post Ultimate Reset, and i've noticed a few things:
1) I've put on 3lbs
2) I crave green vegetables
3) I no longer crave crap food on the weekends, NOR alcoholic beverages
In fact, in relation to number 3: My husband and i usually drink on the weekends. We'll buy a bottle of wine/sangria, he'll drink beer while hanging in the pool, etc. This past weekend, I had a few "Mike's Hard Lemonades." They made me feel gross. Like really gross. Not 'drunk' gross, but just bloated and nasty. Ew. I'm a big red wine drinker. The last few times i've had red wine, I feel gross. I get all stuffed up, and feel sluggish the next day. White wine, however, doesn't have that affect on me. What's weird, is i've NEVER been a white wine drinker. Okay...end alcohol rant.
In relation to number 1: I know it's because i've a) had alcohol on the weekends b) not been drinking a gallon and a half of water every day and c) not working out as hard as i usually do. That's all about to change. It's amazing how, when you reset your system, you actually NOTICE, once you start back into your old habits, which of those habits are holding you back from the results you want. BINGO.
In relation to matter 2: Kale. Really. Kale. Never saw that one coming. I want to eat it every day. Weird, I know.
Even my morning coffee doesn't seem to give me the same satisfaction that it used to. Although I complained about the structure of the Reset while I was doing it, it actually gave me a great sense of satisfaction. I'm not saying i'm going to go BACK to that kind of massive structure, but i definitely, after these past 2 weeks, see how much that structure helped me to be my best.
SO...today: adding more vegetables, skipping the morning coffee (already had one this morning, so that'll have to wait until tomorrow), and going back to my water-drinking ways.
Also, i've been doing the Muscle and Fitness Hers 12-week Trainer program. Unfortch, i'm not impressed with it at all. I'm on day 15 of it, and although I LIKE it, i don't feel like i'm getting much out of it at all. I do believe, that i'm going to go back to Asylum and the bain of my existence, Shaun T.
Eat Clean. Be Fit.

Ultimate Reset Day 6
So, here I am, entering Day 6 of the Ultimate Reset. My thoughts so far: The Alkanilize is gross, but i choke it down knowing that it's doing fab things for my body. I'm drinking over a gallon of water a day, which I THINK is causing me to bloat a bit in my tummy area. When I wake up in the morning, the bloat is gone (and i think i look leaner), but by 4pm, my tummy looks big again. The food is ridiculously awesome. Not only is this reset causing me to actually TASTE my food, but it's making me step outside of my comfort zone in the kitchen. Tempeh? Millet? Quinoa salad? Sure.
It's a LOT of food. I have a hard time eating it all! I feel amazing. Not tired, not sore, just....rested and healthy. I LOVE THIS!! I'll update with a weight loss, if any, tomorrow!

What's stopping you?
I'm on my Team FitWisdom facebook page so often, that I forget to blog on here. At the end, I'll add my "After" Asylum pics (although they're posted on Facebook).
So today, I want to ask you a question: What's stopping you? What is it that's stopping you from being the BEST you? Not just the healthiest/fittest you, but the best YOU you can be? The top 3 things that pop into your head are most likely going to be kids, work, motivation--at least ONE of these is going to be your excuse. And yes, that's what it is--an excuse. Let's hit these one at a time...
Kids
Kids, kids, kids. Lovey little things, that often feel like they're sucking out our very souls. Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you two things are certain: 1. I ADORE my kids--love them completely with every inch of my very soul. 2. They drive me insane and I feel like they take up every bit of my time.
Well, this is how I USED to feel. Don't get me wrong--statement 1 still holds true! But number 2 has changed drastically--how? I MADE time for myself. Many parents use the excuse, "I can't take time for myself--I HAVE no time! I'm dealing with the kids every waking moment!" You have to MAKE time. I have worked out numerous times with kids under my feet. I'm not saying it's always the best workout, but it's better than sitting on my butt doing nothing. As far as "me" time--I try my best to have the kids tucked in for the night by 930pm. Yes, that's late--the little one doesn't get home from gymnastics until 830-ish 3x a week (then we have to snack/shower/etc.). But I know, at 10pm, my butt is going to be downstairs, in my comfy chair, with my husband. Often, we'll watch one of our DVR'd shows together, and sometimes, I'll play on the Kindle. It's all good--it's ME time. Bottom line: If you DON'T make "me" time, you're ultimately going to regret it. You'll be better off, and your kids will be better off if you take time for yourself! As far as fitness goes--30 minutes a day is practically guaranteeing you a healthier and longer life.
Work
If you work fulltime, you know how hard it is to get in a workout. Believe me, I deal with it every day. I am blessed in that i get to work from my home office--so I can just wander into my workout room when I can catch a break. If you work in an office, it's a bit tricker. When I DID work in an office, we had an onsite gym. I worked out every day. I literally blocked off my calendar from 1130-1230 and went to the gym. If you DON'T have a gym, it gets even tricker. My husband used to get up at 5am to run/workout, or, he'd run when he got home. When he runs now, he runs after work. That is HIS time, and he needs it. Make the time, people. Not everyone that works full time is overweight and unhealthy--it CAN be done, so figure out how YOU'RE going to do it.
Motivation
Man, I usually take an extended break from Thanksgiving until New Years. And by 'break,' I mean I don't work out much, and don't eat as clean as I should be. But, I do this fully knowing that a) i'm probably going to gain 5lbs b) I'm going to bloat from eating white flour/sugar and c) it's going to be hard to get going again. By setting those losses out in the open BEFORE I go on break, I know what to expect when I start again in January. I also know that NOT starting is NOT an option. I know how easy it is to NOT workout. I know how easy it is to make excuses. Start telling yourself, "I'M MAKING EXCUSES FOR MYSELF." You hate it when people make up excuses to you, so why in the world would you make excuses to yourself? I was once one of those people. Instead of getting up at lunch and working out, I would sit at my laptop and make excuses: "Someone might email me," or "What if my boss pings me?" Yeah, what if? EVERYONE takes lunch. They'll get over it. Also, if i left my computer, I'd say, "Oh, I'll DUST during my lunch break." YES! Can you believe?? So many excuses being I was too lazy to put forth the effort to make myself healthy. You know where that got me? Go check out my 'Before' pics on the facebook page!! Taking that first step is HARD. But do it. MAKE yourself workout 4 days this week. Do it, and you will feel better. Soon, you won't need to motivate yourself--you'll be motivating others!!
Don't let anyone or anything stop you. YOU are going to be your biggest downfall or your own biggest cheerleader. Cheer yourself on. Don't sell yourself short. You are worth so much more!!
Steph

Asylum, Day 30, Fit test numbers
Same drill, people. I didn't see a huge spike in numbers, but what i DID see was a huge increase in strength and proper form.
Exercise : Day 1 : Day 30
Agility heisman : 11 : 13
In & out ab prog. : 44 : 65
lat push ups : 18 : 20
Mtn climber switch kicks : 67 : 72
agility shoulder taps : 5 : 4.5
x jumps : 29 : 28
moving push ups : 3.5 : 3.5
agility lateral shuffle : 17 : 20
agility bear crawl : 13.5 : 15
I'm pleased with these results. Like my husband said, I'd see bigger results if I wouldn't have just come off of months and months of Insanity. I agree. I'm really pleased with my lat strength though--there's a definite deeper dive in pushups.
Next up: Asylum/P90X hybrid! But first...rest week!

Day 8, Asylum--Back to Core
Again, this workout hurts muscles that you didn't know you had. Shaun T's all, "Okay, now hold it up your arms and pulse it..." then YOU start going, "Ow, Ow, OW!!! What the hell is THAT muscle???" and it hurts. Then it hurts some more. But i can feel these weird back muscles that I know are going to make my back look kick butt. Shaun T also keeps saying, "Pretend you're squeezing a pencil in there..." (between your shoulder blades.) Okay, i'll do that. And once my back gets cut enough, i'll actually just store the girls' pencils in there since they always lose them anyways.
"Mommy, do you have a pencil?"
"Why, yes, yes I do--right here between my shoulder blades."
See? That would just work out well for EVERYONE.
Vertical plyo tomorrow. I'm already scared.

See the change
“The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” – Unknown
Read that. No, really READ it. Now think about yourself. Now read it again. Does that apply to you?
The first time I read that quote, I just skimmed it. Then something made me read it again. So I did...slowly and surely. Then I thought about myself and looked at it again. That quote holds so much truth, doesn't it? I mean, i'm not trying to force you to apply it to yourself, but heck, it certainly applies to me.
My fitness journey, and this is what it IS...a JOURNEY--because there's no end--started with my discomfort. My sudden realization that not only did I THINK I was out of shape, but that I really and truly was. Know what I mean? For a long while there, I thought, "Eh, i'm heavier/wearing a larger size than normal, but i'm not really out of shape." "I keep getting a cough/cold, but it's not because i'm unhealthy--it's just allergies." Really? How many of us deceive ourselves like that?
If you're anything like me, I just put it on the backburner. I'd tell myself, "Oh, I just have big thighs because I've ALWAYS had big thighs--they're just more muscular than most," or "I just have a bubble butt--that's how it is. It's been there since birth." Or, i'd make a million other random excuses: "I don't have time." "I'm a mom now--when am i going to work out?" So, the day came when I finally realized that what I was thinking--that i was unhealthy--was the truth. Oh my. And that would be the final line of the quote, "For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers."
So, I decided to jump out of that damn rut. Sometimes, you just gotta hit rockbottom, ladies and gents, before you make a change. I was propelled by my discomfort. And honestly, I am still driven by the memory of that discomfort every day. I don't want to go back to that unhealthy part of my life. I don't want to, and you can't make me. I'm not going to do it. I replaced excuses with action. And you know what? It wasn't NEARLY as difficult as I thought it would be! OWN the change you want to see in yourself. I am so much happier. I feel like i have more control. I just feel...GOOD. You can, too. :)
Step out of your rut. I'll even hold your hand if you need help. Come on.

Asylum Day 4--Vertical Plyo=horizontal death
Holy crap. (Honestly, i think all my Asylum posts start with something like that, right?) Vertical Plyo is the hardest and craziest workout i've ever done. It's a lot more of Shaun T just making up crazy shit. Pushup jacks with resistance bands on your arms and legs, TONS of jumproping, and a whole heckofalotta jumping over that damn ladder. My FOREARMS are sweating. My WRISTS are sweating. That's just gross. I think the tops of my hands are sweating, too...yes, yes they are.
I felt like a totally uncoordinated twit doing this workout. I busted my butt, but i feel like I spent a lot of time looking at the tv with a look of pure confusion on my face and asking, "Whaaaa?" Some of the moves, he'd be yelling, "Come on! You can do this!" but he was too late, because i was already in a horizontal position, in a pool of sweat, crying, near death.
I think Shaun T is trying to kill me. If he asks, don't tell him where I live.

Asylum Day 3--What the hell is THAT??
This workout left me asking, "WTH?" the majority of the time. Shaun T just makes crap up--i'm quite convinced of it. I mean, no one in their right mind, would try to do this kind of stuff to their body. I've never been working out and thought, "Hmmm..think i'll do a reverse plank, then pulse up my legs--alternately." Really? A REVERSE plank? Then you want me to lift one of my legs off the ground? I did it, but graceful, I am not.
He also does all these moves that start out not hurting, then end up killing you by the end. The pain sneaks up on you. And the pain is in these random spots that have never hurt before. Then he continuously tells you, "It doesn't start working 'til it starts hurting." I'd like to punch him in the face. I hope he's right, because after I finish the exercise, it's STILL hurting. Dammit. It better be working.
As much as I bitch about this program, I love it. It's hard. It's challenging. I have to push myself. EXTREMELY HARD.
I'm going to be paying for this tomorrow...

Oh look...there goes the wagon...
...that I fell off of. Jeesh. So, I was on my 3rd day of Asylum. Then Good Friday happened. Did a photoshoot that morning, then had promised the kids i'd take them to the movies. Before I knew it, Friday was gone. Saturday, was my nephew's first birthday--that day flew by. Sunday: Easter, church, time by the pool--bye, bye, Sunday.
Next thing I know, it's Monday, and i've got a sugar hangover. I knew that I wouldn't be able to give Asylum 100%--and that's what that program needs. I refuse to workout half-assed. If i'm not going to give it my all, then i'm not going to do it. So--the decision? This week is a self-proclaimed 'rest week.' I can't remember the last time I took one, actually...January, maybe?
So, i'm having a ball this week. Not watching what food is clean or not, not worrying about working out...just doing the 'ol day job.
But next week--I'm starting over at square one. Yeah, next week better RUN AND HIDE.
Here's a preview of the photoshoot: (you can see more on my team page)
p.s. I can't believe I grabbed 10s for that shot. I should have at least spun it so you couldn't see the number!

Asylum Day 1
I can feel my shoulders tightening up as I type this (wow...nice alliteration, eh?). So, Day 1--in the books. All i can say is: HOLY COW. That was freakin' tough! I made it through every exercise, but i think it's because I was going slower than i normally would--i was concentrating on what Shaun T. was doing, and how he was doing it. Next time, i'll be able to push harder. There were tons of plank exercises--walking planks (through the agility ladder), shoulder tap planks, plank runs...ouch. And those plank runs on the ladder--CRAZY!!!
Here's my Asylum Day 1 pic:
Can't wait to see what Day 30 looks like!!

New workout & what's up
February already. I'm just hoping THIS year doesn't go by as quickly as last year. Time really is flying by.
Here's the health update on me:
2 weeks ago, I started a new program: Insanity/Brazil Butt Lift hybrid. I was doing the P90X/Insanity hybrid, but I didn't feel like i was getting enough from it, so i switched it up a bit. Plus, bathing suit season is around the corner, and my butt needs a lift. I'm pretty sure I can vouch for 90% of the mom population when I say my butt's a bit lower than it used to be. Yikes. I'm hoping BBL can give me a nice little bit of oomph to my booty. I checked out tons of success stories before I ordered it, and i'm feeling confident. If pain is any indication of it working, then by all means, IT.IS.WORKING. Holy cow...is it EVER working!!
I am still loving the heck out of Insanity. Best and toughest cardio i've ever done! If you're looking for something to blast off the fat, this my friends, is it. It will beat the crap out of you!! I can't wait for Asylum, the next installation of Insanity, coming out in summer 2011!! Yee hee!! I'm a glutton for punishment, but i am SO happy with how my body looks, that there is NO WAY i'm going back to what it was in October of 2009. This is my new lifestyle, and i'm going to continue to rock it.
Eating-wise, I'm practically vegetarian at this point. Because of Clairey's (my youngest daughters) gymnastics schedule, plus my oldest daughter's (Jenna) piano and Brownie schedule, we're rarely home for dinner. Both myself and my girls are heavily fortified through Shakeology, GrapeNuts cereal, and oatmeal. I generally cook on Sundays, and THAT usually involves meat. Since i've stopped eating so much meat though, when I do eat it (particularly red meat), i end up with a tummy ache. I'm still doing a rendition of Tony's Rant Diet, which now is just a part of my daily life. Cutting white/enriched flour from my diet is one of the best things i've ever done. After the first week of no white flour, I felt such a huge difference (and SAW a huge difference in my belly). I don't think i could go back to it--like red meat, when I eat it, my tummy hurts.
I can say with 100% confidence that this is the HEALTHIEST i've ever been. I know that I'm a Beachbody coach, but I couldn't have gotten this far without the encouragement and motivation from all my buddies and friends i've met on beachbody.com. I hope the people I coach feel the same way about me! :)

"Shakeology is so expensive!"
People often ask me how I stay fit. I tell them that it's by using Beachbody workouts and by drinking Shakeology. They'll ask what Shakeology is, and I tell them. Everyone wants to try it, but always halts when they find out how much it is: around $130 a month--that includes tax/shipping/handling. And then they balk--"WHAT?!!!" "That's so expensive!!" "I can't afford that!" And here's where i tell you, "Of COURSE you can," and here's why...
Shakeology is a meal replacement. In one shake, it offers you an ENTIRE day's worth of fruits and vegetables, plus a multitude of other good things for your body. Unlike other meal replacement drinks, Shakeology is 100% natural--no made-up chemical crap in it--just 100% good nutrition. Think about it--when is the last time YOU nourished your body with a full day's serving of fruits and vegetables?? Before I started Shakeology, I can't think of one.
Here's an exercise for you (a checkbook exercise): Since Shakeology is a meal replacement, let's say you're going to have a shake instead of lunch each day for a month. Look through your bank statement/checkbook/receipts..whatever...add up how much you've spent at LUNCH for the past 30 days. If you brown-bagged it, or are a stay-at-home-mom, for those days you didn't eat out, add $1 (because you used what you had at home). How much did that add up to? I KNOW you went out to eat at least a couple of times. If you work at an office and went out with your coworkers, your lunch was probably around $10--and that's if it was CHEAP. $15 bucks a pop is closer to what you spend, right? If you're a SAHM, you can easily drop $6 on fast food for YOURSELF. ICK. It adds up.
And, in those meals--in all that money that you 'pooped' out--how much nutrition did you provide to your body?? Did any of those meals give your body amazing nutrition? Provide a day's worth of fruits and vegetables? Help prevent colon cancer? Reverse the symptoms of colitis? What about reversing symptoms of diabetes? No? Weird. Shakeology does all that, and more. One daily scoop of Shakeology has amazing affects on your body.
So, here's the scoop: I felt the SAME way about purchasing Shakeology. In fact, I had been using Beachbody programs for nearly a year, and still wasn't doing it--because i felt like it was too expensive. But, the more I read, the more i learned about Shakeology, the more i wanted to do it. I was working SO HARD to get my body in shape--the OUTSIDE of my body--but what was i doing to the inside? I was working hard to eat right, but i STILL wasn't fortifying my working body with the proper nutrition. I was taking some protein shake that i got at VitaminShoppe, and I thought that was good enough. So, in order to "prevent" myself from spending that $130 a month on Shakeology, I walked to my pantry, armed with an ingredient list from Shakeology to PROVE to myself that my $50 a month protein drink was just as good as Shakeology....
To say I was surprised would be an understatement. 90% of the stuff in my protein drink was unpronounceable (did i just make that word up??). "All-Natural"??? Not quite. That "healthy" protein drink I had been taking to "save money" on, was created in a lab. It was/is practically a container full of toxins. Why would i, after busting my ass to get in this shape, want to drink stuff that i can't even pronounce? I wanted to be fit and healthy on the outside AND the inside. At that point, I made the decision to take the Beachbody challenge: try Shakeology for 30 days. If you don't like it, and it doesn't deliver all that Beachbody promises, then you get your money back. 100%, no questions asked.
I also decided, at that point, to become a BeachBody coach. So, when i purchased my first 30 days of Shakeology, I immediately got a 25% discount--making my total $89--for a 30-day supply of Shakeology! And really...that's all it took--30 days. I started with one shake a day. After 1 week (yes, ONE week), I could tell a difference. My energy level was UP, my tummy was flatter (Shakeology helps to flush out all those 'bloating' toxins), and overall, i just felt GREAT. That was back in July of 2010.
Most days, I have two shakes a day--one for breakfast, and one for a late-afternoon snack. I crave the nutrients; well, my BODY craves the nutrients. I feel absolutely amazing! My kids LOVE the chocolate Shakeology, and I can feel good about giving it to them. How many kids do YOU know that get a full day's serving of vegetables? Mine do! I often make one shake, and split it--putting 1/2 into a thermos for each of them at lunch, along with their regular sandwich and piece of fruit. With that, i know that my babies are getting the proper nourishment--with no fillers, with nothing I can't pronounce--just 100% clean and healthy! LOVE IT.
And YOU will love it too! Is it worth the price? I can tell you with great confidence, YES. It 100%, absolutely is. Out of all the thousands of meal replacement drinks out there, Shakeology is the most effective for the price--I PROMISE you that. Learn more by viewing the videos below:

New Years resolutions...coming up quick
Like i said in my previous post--it's almost that time of year. Not only for going overboard on food, but the time of year when people start making resolutions (and not sticking to them). I mention this for two reasons:
For how many years have you said, "I'm tired of being overweight!" "I'm tired of having no energy!" or, simply, "I'm just tired." How many January's have you started a 'diet,' an 'exercise program,' a 'new and improved you' program?? If you're anything like me, you've started quite a few. It seems that every year, I start January with a new vigor for life. I decide, like 90% of the population, that THIS year i'm going to lose weight--THIS year, i'm going to take better care of myself--THIS year, i'm going to make some "me" time. And by the end of February (usually sooner), I'm back to my December self. I get it. I've been there, and i've done that.
It really is time to take control. It's time to make YOU time. It's time to improve your self-esteem, your health, and your life. It's time that you throw the excuses aside. I've heard them all, because i used to say it, too: I'm too busy, I have no time, I'm just so tired. Listen: what do you hear? I hear EXCUSES. MAKE the time. MAKE. THE. TIME. If you don't know me, let me fill you in: I work full-time as an account manager for a marketing firm. Because I have a smartphone, I essentially work 24/7. I am at my desk from 7am-5pm. I usually don't take lunch until 2 or 3pm. At 5pm, we start our running around.
I have 2 little girls. We have piano on Mondays, gymnastics on Tuesdays, theatre on Wednesdays, gymnastics on Thursdays, and Fridays are our "free" evening--which usually turns into the "let's run all the errands we couldn't run during the week" day. Oh, and let's not forget the regular stuff too: laundry, cleaning, making dinner/lunches, etc. It's all there--you do it, I do it. This is what mom's do. We juggle constantly. But, when you look at all we do, there's ONE thing we leave out of our hectice schedules. ONE thing. Can you guess what it is? It's US. We leave OURSELVES out of our schedule. You know, I don't even get to take a SHOWER by myself. For the sake of time, the girls shower with me--one at a time. I'm used to shaving my legs over a 7-year old's head. So, where is MY time?
Last October, I just decided that I had had enough. I was sick and tired of letting MYSELF go for the sake of my family. Believe me, running myself ragged wasn't doing them any favors. I was never "put together," I wasn't healthy, I always felt short-tempered and, to be honest with you, bitchy. And i just felt like....well, crap. I wasn't eating--i honestly didn't have time--or, I wasn't MAKING time. I was running on Diet Coke and granola bars. Seriously--i'm not kidding. My daily diet was 2 cups of coffee, 1 Diet Coke, and 2 granola bars. WOW. I look at that now and think, "HOW did I function?"
I wasn't functioning, really. I was just going through the motions.
I ordered P90X, and started the first week of October. It hasn't been the same since. I MADE time for myself. Even that--that 1 hour a day--improved everything for me. Working out--getting my body moving and my blood flowing--improved everything for me. If you didn't get it: EVERYTHING IMPROVED FOR ME. All of a sudden, I was thinking about eating. I was HUNGRY. What did I WANT to put in my body for fuel? I started making wise choices--eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Drinking more water. Fast forward to August of this year--I made a HUGE change: I started eating "clean." No more Diet Coke; no more enriched, white flour; no more preservatives. I allow myself 1 cup of coffee a day. And you know what? It was easy. It's because my body didn't/doesn't need that stuff to survive any longer.
I'm happier, my kids are happier, my husband is happier. Starting Beachbody has not only changed me and MY life, but it has changed the lives of my family. Cheesy? Yes. True? Absolutely, 100%. My kids see me healthy, energized, and happy. My husband sees me healthy, energized, and happy. :)
Wow...nothing like telling a long story long, eh? :D
And now, on to #2:
If you're interested in becoming a Beachbody coach, now is the time to sign up. I spent so many years wanting to do something that made a difference, but didn't know what. THIS is it. Now, i make a difference! I'm helping people to get fit! I'm offering them support, encouragement, and a pat on the back! It's an awesome feeling; I love it. And, the bonus....you can bring in some extra cash doing it. What does it take? A great attitude, and the willingness to share and talk about what you do. I have NEVER made a "cold sell" to anyone. All of my sales have come from people asking me about P90X/Insanity/Shakeology. I simply tell them what these things have done for me. That's it. You don't HAVE to sell this stuff--it sells itself. Have I made thousands of dollars off of being a Beachbody coach? Nope. Do I want to? Eh, it would be a nice bonus, but it's not my goal. It CAN happen though! My FAVORITE part of being a coach, is helping people to acheive results they didn't think were possible. I think that's awesome. I'm my own client, for goodness sake! I'm a picture of the results you can get if YOU make the time for yourself. In essence, i'm my own advertisement. If you use BeachBody products, sign up to coach! You get a discount, and you're sharing the wealth of health. http://bit.ly/FitWisdom
Take care!

For how many years have you said, "I'm tired of being overweight!" "I'm tired of having no energy!" or, simply, "I'm just tired."
